Warm Red Tones: Growing Up in the South

Documentary Photography Series (4x5 film, 35 mm film and digital photography)

Warm Red Tones documents the visual and symbolic nuances of life in the American South, capturing the often-overlooked details embedded in North Carolina’s rural and suburban landscapes. From subtle traces of change to surreal juxtapositions in everyday spaces, the images reveal moments that might otherwise go unnoticed—fragments of a lived environment shaped by history, culture, and personal memory. Framed through my own lens, this work reflects on the layered realities of Southern life, exploring how displacement, nostalgia, and cultural hybridity have influenced my perception of the places I have come to call home.
