De los Dos Lados

2021- 2023, Monoprints

De los Dos Lados is a series of printed barn quilts that explore the complexities of bicultural identity. Drawing inspiration from the dynamic interplay of barn quilt patterns admired during trips to Western North Carolina, the series employs abstraction to symbolically represent the tension and convergence of being tied to two different cultural identities. Traditionally, barn quilts serve as visual emblems of a homestead, yet in this work, they become a medium for interrogating the concept of home—examining the fluidity of belonging across national, familial, and social boundaries.
